BRIEFS São Paulo rating is obstacle to investment The governor of São Paulo state, Geraldo Alckmin, wants to convince Finance Minister Henrique Meirelles to alter how the National Treasury rates the state's financial situation and thus enable investment plans. Currently São Paulo is rated C- by the Treasury, which suggests a high credit risk. “São Paulo has a worse rating than Acre because the main thing for the Treasury is the value of the debt, regardless of revenue generation and capacity of repayment. The debt is big, but so is the revenue,” Mr. Alckmin says.
